Hypnosis
Hypnosis
is a state of focused relaxation during which the client becomes
particularly responsive to suggestions. During light hypnosis,
the brain is emitting alpha waves, similar to a state of daydreaming
or being absorbed in an enjoyable, creative activity. In deeper
hypnosis, the brain is emitting theta waves, similar to a state
of meditation or when an athlete is "in the zone." In hypnosis,
the critical self-talk that we all experience in our own minds
is put to one side, while the hypnotist speaks directly to the
subconscious mind. Our bodies hold memories and emotions, including
from our earliest, pre-verbal, experiences. In hypnosis some
of these can be brought into conscious awareness, resulting
in greater self-knowledge and insight into any issues we might
have. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis, and the hypnotist
merely acts as a facilitator.
Tarot
The
first tarot packs date from 15th century Italy, and were used
to play a game of trumps, called tarocchi. The
tarot pack really consists of two packs of cards. One pack,
of 22 cards, is known as the Major Arcana. These are the "picture"
cards that you are probably familiar with from the movies -
you know, where some voluptuous gypsy girl dramatically draws
the Death card or the Hanged Man (and neither of these is as
alarming as the movies would have it!). The other pack almost
identical to a regular pack of playing cards, but contains four
extra court cards: Princess (or Knave) as well as Prince (or
Knight), Queen and King. Perhaps the most famous tarot pack
is the Rider-Waite pack, drawn by Pamela Coleman-Smith for the
Order of the Golden Dawn about a century ago. The cards of the
Major Arcana are associated with astrological symbols and also
the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet and paths on the Tree
of Life.
You can
certainly use the Tarot for lighthearted "fortune telling"
and entertainment, but the cards can be used for so much more
than that - for meditation, insight into our own thoughts and
emotions, and guidance. The Major Arcana can be seen as archetypal
symbols, and represents the Hero's (or Heroine's) journey, starting
with The Fool and ending with The World. In this workshop you
will learn about the tarot pack and how to do a number of different
types of reading, for yourself and others. We will also explore
what we know about our own birth, using a spread specifically
to look at neonatal influences. If you own a tarot pack, please
bring it.
Peoplemap Training

interpersonal relationships are paramount to happiness and well
being. In this session, you will understand your own and others'
style of relating, communicating and getting work done. You

each other, solving problems, and getting work done.
- Become aware of their own personality preferences in down to earth
language:
Everyone receives:
- A general description of their personality style.
- Strengths of their style
- Three things that motivate
their behavior
- Potential weaknesses of their style.
- Ways to communicate more effectively with each type.
- Areas for potential growth
Creating Mandalas
A mandala is a concentric diagram, often circular in form, that is used in various religious or meditative traditions. Mandalas can aid meditation or can be used to induce hypnotic trance. Creating mandalas can be therapeutic, and they can be interpreted diagnostically. Carl Jung believed that a mandala allowed the creator to express the unconscious self.
Dream Circles
- What do dreams tell us?
- Archetypal themes: The hero's Journey.
- How dreams show the areas of our life we need to focus
on.
- Group work with dreams (Dream Circle).
Horses
The horse-human
relationship is a powerful crucible for transformation, team building
and effective leadership skills. The horse is a model for and mirror of human
experience. Creating a bond of trust with an equine partner
compels one to be honest, patient and present. The horse mirrors
back to us our habitual and unconscious patterns of thinking
and feeling enabling us to acknowledge and release these self
limiting beliefs, leading to insight and change. Learn how to improve
and align your relationships and develop your missions and
goals while enhancing performance and creativity.
Homework
There will be a few "homework" exercises to do between sessions. These should not be onerous or time-consuming and will contribute to your enjoyment of the workshop. Each participant will be given a journal for recording dreams, insights from tarot work, and anything else you like. The tarot work will involve starting to carry a card a day from the Major Arcana (to be explained in the workshop). Often when you carry a particular card around you will notice coincidences or synchronicities in your everyday life that relate to the card. You should bring your journal to the second session. You will start your mandala work in session one and will complete it during the week. We will share our work in the second session. There will also be a brief self-hypnosis exercise to practice every day - it only takes a minute or two.
