Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are your soaps gentle enough for children?
A: Yes, glycerin soaps are gentle and won't dry the skin. As well as the fun "fruity friends" animal-shaped bars, I make a pure soap bar that has no colorings or scents of any kind, in either clear glycerin or goats' milk. My younger daughter has multiple allergies but has used my soap for years and has never had any problems with it. Note: if your child has a known milk allergy it is possible that he or she may also react to goats' milk in soap. People with allergies should always do a skin patch test with any product to be used on the skin.

Q: Can I pay by credit card?
A: Yes, I will invoice you through PayPal, which offers multiple payment options.

Q: Can I pay by check or money order?
A: Yes, you can certainly mail payment to me, but your order will not be shipped until the payment has cleared, so this is not the best option if you need your soaps in a hurry.

Q: Will you ship UPS or FedEX?
A: Yes, I can ship any way you like - those charges will simply be added to your invoice.

Q: Will your soaps melt if left standing in water?
A: Yes, glycerin soaps attract moisture and can melt easily. To get the maximum life from glycerin soap, make sure it sits in a soap dish that allows the water to drain away after each use.

Q: Do you make your soaps from scratch?
A: No. These are "melt and pour" soaps. I start with a base I purchase from a reputable company, and to that I add botanicals e.g. oatmeal, almond meal, flowers, honey, rosewater, essential oils, shea butter, and home-grown or locally-sourced herbs. My soaps are often colored simply using an infusion made from herbal tea. I sometimes add fragrance or color if it will enhance the final product or if a customer requests a specific scent.

Q: Do you sell your soaps in stores?
A: Yes, I sell them at Womancraft Handcrafted Gifts, in the Eastgate shopping center, Chapel Hill, NC.

Q: What are your soaps wrapped in?
A: All soaps are wrapped in clear cellophane bags that preserve the moisture content. Additionally, some of my soaps are wrapped in paper. I print the papers myself, using my own designs, or designs from my digital collection of fabrics and textiles. Each soap also has an ingredient label on the wrapper with a complete list of ingredients.

Q: I would like to use your soaps as wedding favors. What designs do you have?
A: I have all kinds of small, guest-size or mini soaps in a range of designs, e.g. celtic ovals and squares, sun, moon, star, floral, hearts. Call me to discuss your needs.

Q: What do you do with customer information?
A: I keep my clients' email address for personal use only: for occasional newsletters or information about upcoming craft fairs where I sell my soap locally. If I invoice a customer through PayPal, I have a record of the transaction. You are welcome to specify that I not keep a record of your information and that I not send you any information. Under no circumstances will I share your information with anyone else.

Q: Do you have a catalog?
A: No, but you can see pictures of my soap on the photos page.

Q: How big are your soaps?
A: Regular bars range from 3.5 to 6oz. Guest soaps are smaller, 2 to 2.5oz, and are usually sold in bags of two or three. Mini soaps are even smaller than that 0.5 to 1.5oz. Mini soaps are sold in bags of 5-8, approx 4oz.

Q: I would like a number of gift baskets for a fundraiser with our company logo - can you do that?
A: Sure. Just send me the jpeg of your logo and I will transfer it to my labels.

Q: Do you make any other products aside from soap?
A: Nope, just the soap.

Q: Do you make holiday soaps?
A: Yes, I make a range of seasonal soaps for holidays: Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc.
